The day before MLK's assassination he told those listening to him speak, "I just want to do God's will!" That is a true Christian!!!
This program opened my eyes to Biblical truths, answered many of the questions I had about Christianity, and corrected things that I thought were contradictions.
"False doctrines, lies, and deception created the perception that the Bible is full of contradictions, so I didn't think it could be trusted. And if God's word couldn't be trusted then how could I trust or believe in God!
After growing up in church where I was taught the Bible is the divine infallible word of God, I was confronted by scholars in college that exposed what they and I perceived to be contradictions therein. This rocked my world, everything I had been taught about the Bible, God and Jesus Christ seemed to be false.
My world spiraled out of control until I landed behind bars. It was in prison that I search for the truth. I read the Bible cover to cover a number of times and studied several different denominations. I even studied the Koran and Hinduism. I read about Mohammad, and Ghandhi. But I kept coming back to Christianity.
It's the only religion that is based on LOVE and has a definitive path to heaven, where I can be united with my family and friends after we die. But how could I be a true believer when the Bible was full contradictions, some of which were major doctrinal contradictions? I convinced myself that I just had to have faith that the Bible is true even if I perceived it to be full of errors.
This still bothered me! Then one day my father told me about a TV Bible study he watched. Luckily, Les Feldick's "Study Through the Bible" aired on one of the stations we could pick up in prison. It opened my eyes to Biblical truths that I had not seen before. This made the Bible plain, easy to understand, and it cleared up the doctrinal contradictions.
Now, I believe in God, that Jesus Christ is God's son, that Jesus died on the cross to pay the debt I owed for my sins, and that the Bible is a map on how to have a relationship with God.
Once I understood the basics of the Abrahamic Covenants the whole Bible became clear, it made sense, and I realized the perceived contradictions were not contradictions at all.
In sum, the Abrahamic Covenants consists of God promises to Abraham. That if Abraham would come out from among his father's people and surrounding community and go where God sends him, that God would: (1) Known as the Old Covenant - raise up a great Nation (Israel) from his seed, and (2) Known as the New Covenant - bless all the Nations from his seed (Jesus Christ the savor of the world).
Old Covenant: It is for the Jews only and the Nation is Israel only. In general, it encompasses the Old Testament and the New Testament up to Christ's death. Christ fulfilled the Old Covenant with his death, which paid our sin debt. There is no longer a need for blood sacrifices to pay for sins. All the Old Covenant promises and principles were earthy in nature.
New Covenant: It is for everyone. In general, it starts with the death of Christ, and in Acts 1:1. From Acts 1:1 to 10:1 the new covenant is offered to the Jews only. They were given the chance to accept Christ. It wasn't to Acts 10:1 that the New Testament was extended to non-Jew, basically all the world (Gentiles). The New Covenant, and all its promises and principles are spiritual.
Now understanding and studying the whole Bible is important! To be mature Christians that are steadfast in our belief we need to understand the story of creation, our religious history, and what sin is, all of which are taught in the Old Testiment. Further, we need to study the New Testament gospels to understand who Jesus Christ is, why He fulfilled the Old Covenant, and what the coming New Covenant entailed.
But we cannot mix the Old Covenant with the New Covenant, or vice versa.
Truly, understanding this changed my life!!! I believe it can do the same for you.
See Les Feldick's "Study through the Bible", he does an excellent job teaching the Abrahamic Covenant.

Is Ishmael the father Islam?
We know the Bible focuses on two of the major religions in the world today, Judaism and Christianity. But does God also make a covenant concerning Muslims?
Consider God's promised to, or Covenant with, Abraham concerning Ishmael. God told Abraham not to worry about Ishmael after he sent him away, because the boy would be okay. Also, God said he was going to raise up a great nation from Ishmael's seed. I believe that great nation was the Arab Muslims and the creation of Islam. See Genesis 21:11-13.
Why do bad thing happen to good people. That's easy the devil is the prince or god of this world for now.
What is heaven going to be like? Before Adam and Eve sinned their was no death, pain, sickness, and they seemed happy. I guess it will be like that!
Just think, in over 4,000-years things have not changed. Abraham sent Ishmael away because Ishmael (the father of Islam) couldn't get along with Isaac (one of the fathers of Judaism). And 4,000-years into the future the Jews and Muslims still can't get along.
