Skylar's Gofundme campaign

 A determined 19-year-old, Skylar has endured homelessness and is now working hard to create a safe, stable, and independent future.

As I learned more about Skylar, I discovered that he had spent years in the foster-care system, moving from place to place without the security and stability every young person deserves. And he has experienced the fear, uncertainty, and daily hardships of homelessness.

Despite everything he has been through, Skylar is intelligent, determined, and hopeful about his future. He does not want to remain trapped by his circumstances. He wants the opportunity to become stable, find employment, continue his education or job training, and build an independent life.

Skylar is currently staying temporarily with a friend in Cookeville, where he is originally from. Although he is no longer sleeping on the streets, his housing is not permanent. He needs stable long-term housing, clothing and shoes, reliable transportation, educational or vocational training, and assistance preparing for employment.

This fundraiser is intended to give Skylar more than temporary relief—it is intended to give him a genuine opportunity to succeed.

Donations will be used for:
• Stable housing, including rent, deposits, and utilities
• Clothing, shoes, and employment-related necessities
• Transportation
• Education, vocational training, and job preparation
• Identification documents and other essential stabilization expenses

Funds will be maintained separately and, whenever practical, paid directly to landlords, schools, stores, transportation providers, and other service providers. Skylar will participate in planning how the funds are used, and no compensation will be taken by the organizer.
